Grisedale Lodge is a lovely traditional Lakeland house which dates back to Victorian times. Our idyllic location at Glenridding, close to the southern shores of Ullswater lake and at the heart of the Lake District, means you can enjoy the peace and quiet, whilst surrounded by inspiring views of the Lake District scenery.
Ideal for a romantic break, a family holiday, some real peace and relaxation or an energetic walking, biking or sailing holiday.
At Grisedale Lodge you have the choice of Bed and Breakfast in 3 comfortable double or twin rooms with en-suite shower room or private bathroom and Lakeland views or a lovely Holiday Cottage in a self-catering single level cottage which sleeps up to 5 people.
Our B&B rooms are comfortable and modern with wonderful views of the surrounding fells. The guest lounge is on the first floor and you are welcome to relax here and browse through our small library of local books and information. Breakfast is served in the guest lounge. We think breakfast is the most important meal of the day! You can choose between a hearty Cumbrian cooked breakfast or lighter options, such as cheesy scrambled eggs on home made toast. There is also a good choice of cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurts. An ideal start to the day!
Lower Grisedale Lodge is our ground floor holiday cottage which is a real home from home for families, groups of friends or a couple wanting some time on their own. The cottage is deceptively spacious and comfortable and you should have most things you need. There are three bedrooms; a gorgeous lounge with wood burning stove; a large well equipped kitchen; a modern bathroom with bath and separate shower; and a bright and airy conservatory which leads into the garden.
Grisedale Lodge is located midway between the Lakeland villages of Patterdale and Glenridding and is well located for exploring the Lake District National Park ~ Keswick, Windermere and Ambleside are within a 30 minute drive and Grasmere, Coniston, the Langdales and Borrowdale valley aren't much further away. Patterdale is also directly on Wainwright's Coast to Coast walk - a 192 mile adventure from St Bees to Robin Hood's Bay.
The backdrop to the Ullswater valley is the majestic fells that have always inspired poets, artists and walkers. From Grisedale Lodge you have easy access to Helvellyn and Stridging Edge, St Sunday Crag and Fairfield and the High Street range. There are also numerous valley and woodland walks. The lakeshore walk from Howtown was described by Wainwright as one of the finest in the Lake District - and the views are breathtaking. And the walk to Aira Force is delightful at any time of year.
We hope to see you soon!
